Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv announced today the signing of Oshae Brissett, a Canadian forward with a rich NBA background, for the next two years. Brissett, who has played for Toronto, Indiana, Boston, and Philadelphia, joins after a season where he was part of the Celtics roster that won the NBA championship. Brissett, who can also play as a second guard or power forward, is considered an energetic, athletic, and versatile player who excels in defense and rebounding. Oshae Brissett told the club's official website: 'I'm joining the most decorated club in the world to win a few more titles'. The professional manager Claudio Coldebella said: 'Oshae was our first choice, he fits our system and squad, and will contribute a lot with his energy, competitiveness, and experience'. Coach Oded Kattash also welcomed the new signing: 'Brissett is a tough player who brings energy and will contribute to us on both sides of the court'. Brissett was born in Toronto to a Jamaican mother and a Canadian father, and at the age of 15 moved to the US to pursue his NBA dream. He played high school basketball at the prestigious Findlay Prep alongside players like Dillon Brooks and Kelly Oubre, and excelled in the Canadian youth national team alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. In college, he became a star at Syracuse, with double-digit averages in rebounds and points, and in 2019 signed with the Toronto Raptors. After a stint in the G-League and the NBA, he had a breakout season in Indiana with almost 11 points per game, and then signed for three seasons with the team. Last year, he played for Boston and had a significant role off the bench, including playoff appearances. Now, he will try to translate his American experience into success in Europe, as a player for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the EuroLeague.
